What many women are never taught is that the nervous system plays a powerful role in metabolism, fat storage, hormones, digestion, and appetite regulation. When the body is exposed to chronic stress, the nervous system can remain in a heightened state of alert, often referred to as “fight-or-flight.” In this state, the body releases stress hormones such as cortisol, which can influence blood sugar levels, insulin activity, inflammation, and fat storage—particularly around the midsection.
